URGENT
ACTION TO STOP HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION IN IRAN
The Honorable Kofi Annan,
Secretary General, The United Nations
Fax # (212) 963-4879
Further to our
previous appeals and on behalf of Mrs. Homa Pedram, we are writing to ask for
your urgent help for her husband Mr. Mohammad Reza Pedram. Mr. Pedram was
arrested five years ago when he returned to Iran to visit his ailing father and
has been in danger of execution since then. Mr. Pedram has denied the charge of
espionage for the United States.
Based on a recent
statement issued in Tehran on Sunday, May 20, 2001, by National Union of
University Students and Alumni of Iran, Mr. Pedram, a political prisoner since 5
years ago, has been transferred from Evin Prison to an unknown location and if
not executed yet is in imminent danger of execution. We would like to urge you
to use your good office and take necessary steps to save his life. His wife and
his children who are living in the US are desperately appealing to the world
community for their urgent action on behalf of Mr. Pedram.
Mrs. Pedram or her
daughter Nazila may be contacted at (630) 375-9795.
Respectfully,
Mohammad
