Mission for Establishment of Human Rights in Iran
(MEHR IRAN)
6/16/03
An
open letter to the world community: Freedom
loving Iranians are once again taking to the streets to denounce the
oppressive Islamic Regime of Iran. Since June 11th, thousands of people
have demonstrated in Tehran and other cities in one of the biggest
anti-establishment protests. The unrest was apparently motivated by
hostile feelings at governments’ plans to privatize the Iranian
universities. Nonetheless, the main reason is hatred for a regime that has
terrorized its constituents since its inception in 1979. Iranians have
used every possible occasion to show their abhorrence for the ruling
clerics, as they stayed away in February’s local elections, to announce
that they no longer have any faith in any faction of the Islamic Regime.
They have denounced Ayatollah
Khomeinie and called for President Khatami’s resignation. This movement is aimed to undermine the legitimacy of the Islamic Regime
with an objective to overthrow it through civil disobedience and
non-violent struggle. Unfortunately
the European Union, part of the US Administration including U.S. State
Department, in a way completely opposite of
President Bush’s position, several U.S. lawmakers including some members
of the House of Representatives have tried to legitimize this
regime by shamelessly calling it a democracy! Sadly,
by their words and actions, they have practically formed a second front
against the Iranians struggle for freedom and democracy. Anyone who chooses to ignore the suffering of the Iranian people at
the hands of the terrorist regime in the Islamic Republic in favor of
their short-term economic interests must realize that Iranian people are determined to free themselves from the tyranny of this
backward regime. The victory of the Iranian people is imminent. Those who side with
this terrorist regime are in effect siding with the loser. The people of
Iran do not welcome trade and investment with the terrorist clerics
regime. Trade and investment relations with a terrorist regime is in
effect siding with and aiding the Terrorist. All those who are interested
in establishing trade and investment with the people of Iran must wait
until the fall of this terrorist regime. The people of Iran will prevail.
Stand with the people of Iran in their struggle for democracy and
freedom, stand for We
do not need the interference of any foreign government and, we are
absolutely against any military action by an outside power. We ask that
you show some respect for a nation that is fighting for its freedom,
denounce their abusers rather than praising them, do not support this
terrorist regime, and do not recognize it as the representative of their
victims. Respectfully, MEHR IRAN Tel: (310) 377-4590 |
